LET ME HAVE MY CHRISTMAS DELIGHT!

LET ME HAVE MY CHRISTMAS DELIGHT!

It is well known that alongwith whole Europe we too are going through an economical crunch.Everyone is feeling the pinch. So it was amusing to see our 'Sam Cam'(samantha Camaron, wife of our prime minister), who herself earns a six-figure salary at Smythson, stepping into Ikea-the scandanavian Budget home Store in Wembley last week like a regular housewife to buy a rug and flat pack shelves for '10, Downing Street'(Prime minister's official residence). It was an astonishing and almost unbelievable sight as she picked up several very cheap household items. Moreover, she lugged the furniture around all by herself, refusing help from those who offered it. And when she left the store there was only a single pick-up van to ferry the stuff and no retinue of lackys!

Oh, what a deceit being promoted! Because  the same lady recently splurged  64,000 pound sterlings for providing a floating ceiling and a new luxury bathroom at her Downing Street residence! By such phoney acts these people want to convey us the message to be more frugal in these recession-hit times. But there's no need for such gimmicks. We know better, Mrs.Camaron!
Well, I know, this christmas Santa Claus is likely to bring lesser gifts  for me.Yet I am not complaining! Let me have my Christmas Delight! and what else can be the Christmas delight for a teenager like me other than Christmas pudding!
Christmas is that time of the year when you can put aside every consideration and just indulge in some yummy food, whether it is turkey, cake, wine or the special Christmas pudding. Apart from being delicious, Christmas cuisine has the added advantage of bringing the family together, both in preparing and consuming it. Making the Christmas pudding specially, is a ritual that brings me, mom and dad closer, as each one of us stirs the mixture once and makes a wish, before the pudding goes into the oven!

Only last year I was allowed by my mom to prepare Christmas pudding chiefly all by myself. I followed  a video of Marguerite Patten, the famous first TV chef of Britain.Though she promised that the pudding can be prepared in flat 15 minutes by her procedure, I of course took much more time than that, but suceeded in preparing an edible pudding!
I hope mom will allow me that liberty this year too, but you know,my Christmas Delight lies in the pudding prepared by my mom, it is the ultimate!!

                               WITH BEST WISHES!

  1. Sweet post, Autumn Eliza! Pudding isn't a Christmas staple here in the states, but you sure made me want to try making some.
